Old Wood - New Life - No Waste
Our story begins with a tree. The durable Tectona Grandis tree from East Java to be exact. The tree is felled and the timber brought to a mill where it's sawn into beams and planks for use in homes, bridges and railroad ties.
Years pass. The wood weathers and falls into disuse. In the past this wood would have been left to decay. At d-Bodhi, we see things differently. We see the potential of this beautifully seasoned wood and have a dedicated team of suppliers who bring us old teak wood to use as our raw materials.
Wood that once supported the sturdy structure of a home ... women crossing rivers on their way to market, children heading off to school ... and rail lines moving goods and people to new destinations.
Now the wood is worn out, filled with nails, cracks, holes, and chipped paint.
Most people would say we might as well burn it. But they don't see the beauty hidden inside.
Our skilled craftspeople carefully remove nails and hinges, seeing beyond the weathered surface to a richer heart within.

Under their masterful hands, the wood comes alive again in individually created furnishings ready to grace your home for years to come. As you run your hand over the surface, touching the small holes, cracks or old joints, you'll find yourself daydreaming about your furniture's exotic, tropical past.
FSC : What Does It Mean ?
You can also rest a little easier knowing that only 100% recycled wood is used to make your FSC certified furniture.
FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council, an international, independent, non-governmental organization. The FSC seeks to better manage and preserve the world's native forests, plantations and recycled wood used in a variety of products.
Smartwood is an independent third-party certification organization, appointed by the FSC. They audit companies to determine whether the recycling and production process complies with the strict FSC guidelines.
The FSC logo is your guarantee the product has been independently certified to uphold the highest ecological and social standards of production.
In 2006, d-Bodhi's parent company was awarded the first certification in the Asia-Pacific Region for using 100% recycled teak wood.

d-Bodhi ~ Total Recycling From Scrap Wood to Sawdust
After fashioning the main furniture pieces, we ended up with piles of leftover wood. In our commitment to creating a truly environmentally sound company, we searched for innovative ways to use all this recycled wood … from small off-cut pieces down to the sawdust!
Solid Wood Laminating
Finger joints are cut in small blocks of wood, then matched by colour and glued into long sticks.
Flower pots and stools reuse small pieces of wood.

New planks are then made from these long sticks.
Mosaic panels add texture to doors in our Lucy collection.

Octa lamps turn the smallest bits of wood into unique, functional home accessories.
Sawdust encased in resin opens the door to a variety of products from coasters to lamps.

Your furniture is truly one-of-a-kind. No large machines are used to craft d-Bodhi collections. Only skilled hands using the ancient knowledge of traditional techniques and the simplest of tools.
